The Night Sky, Statewide

UPDATE: Champion of Heritage Sheila Sullivan has worked this year to bring forward community awareness of the night sky. Because of her efforts Governor Gary Johnson proclaimed August 12th, 2002 as "Dark Sky Appreciation Night," throughout the State of New Mexico. In the proclamation, Governor Johnson called for "citizens to turn out artificial lights, go outside, and enjoy the blessings of an unspoiled sky." Sheila is working on another statewide project and continues to champion this cultural resource.
